March Forward - I don't want to work, Using pringles can as a dustbin, and taking my first night time flight
I don't want to work
Why faang people leave their hard earned job.
The mindset required to prepare and succeed in an interview is quite different from when working a job.
I generally have a goal in mind before starting something. Then i go and learn/do stuff that will help me achieve that goal. That goal is usually something silly or cool idea, not some vain goal. All the "work" i do utlimately leads to my goals being fulfilled. When i was a student, which is almost 99% of my life till now, I had a lot of time and energy to dedicate into pursuing these hobbies and putting in the work. So I am used to this satisfaction i get from that work. Now that I work at an office, I feel differently. It leaves me no time or energy for these hobbily persuits. Even more, I feel numb working for 8 hours without getting any of that satisfaction. In the end the work i do now, doesn't matter at all for me, it just gives me money, which i kinda don't need right now. Call it selfish if you may.
It requires a very go-getter mindset to work hard for your dreams, and that's what the candidate for tech interviews is goind through. A great struggle, one of self perfection and proving themselves. OK CUT~> Now you are supposed to work at 20% of your capabilities because of just logistics of a big IT company, you spend more time fixing bugs instead of writing code, no one cares how hard you worked at the end of the day, not even you, but the only saving grace is that they are paying you real money.
Now I kinda get why many people who join big tech fang companies leave to start their own thing.
Using pringles can as a dustbin
MAINTAINANCE, ITS ALL MAINTAINANCE
I am amazed we do not have truly modern mopping solution available today. Mopping floors is a age old problem, yet the best we can come up with is this ?
Many of these different styles of mops have some or the other issue, and I just want to spend less energy mopping the floor.
I have begun to use the pringles can as wet dust bin. It is easy to remove the wet waste by just flipping it upside down, unlike those black platic trashbags that wet stuff sticks to. It comes with an airtight lid, plus, no need to clean it like a regular trashcan, we can just throw it away. This fits my needs very well as I don't generate enough waste in a day to warrant the bigger size.
Taking my first night time flight
I was travelling home when I peeked out the window of my airplane. This was due to the virtue of the window seat being empty, I quickly shifted my attention to the window. And let me tell you, it was marvellous. When the plane took off, I could see the cars slowly getting smaller, and the people dissapear. All i could see was cars illuminating the next car with it's headlights, building emiting lights with many tiny squares which were windows, and street lights dotting the road. Here I again marveled that it was starting to look quite to look similar to scenes from my game engine, the glow of light fading away according to the inverse square law. When you are walking on a street, it is very hard to notice this, but looking at it from such a distance really made it obvious. This fading out effect gave a soft glow to the street lights and the car headlights. It looked almost like it would flying a helicopter in gta
As we began to fly even higher, I stopped seeing individual buldings or cars. Everything that was not emitting light was not visible, making most of my vision pitch black darkness. I was now seeing a cluster of lights that represented a group of buildings, and the streets became even thinner. Some areas were densly lit, other were sparse. I spotted a factory with a single building and a road leading up to it, lit by street lights. This road made a connection of light between the factory and the rest of the world. How awesome. Ascending further, I was captivated by the light of major highways snaking their way through darkness, connecting towns and cities. darkness surrounded them. As i looked up, i was amazed at the darkness everywhere else on earth. I was born in 2002, and most of this lightwork would not have been visible back then. We really built something here. I could'nt help but imagine, the darkness acting as an aid, that i was seeing beyond the earth's horizon, and feeling surreal. Then I started wondering How come I had'nt had thoughts like this before? Then I realised it was my first time on a night flight.
